Davey: O boy did you see that Star Trek episode "And the Children Shall Lead" last night! It looks like may someday kids may be able to go up into space. Do you think that day could be tomorrow mom and dad?

Dad: No I don't think it will be any time soon.

Mother: Yes dear, I think last night's episode showed plenty of reasons that children in space is not a good idea.

Davey: Ok well what were they then?

Mother: Well for one, having children in space will take the adults away from their work to make sure everything is ok and meet their needs. Didn't you see what nurse Chaplin had to do? She basically had to baby sit those poor kids because they were just so rambunctious. All they wanted to do was play. Space, my dear, is no place for playing, and it requires each crew member to do his or her duties without being distracted. Captain Kirk even had to divert some of his men to watch over those kids to make sure they wouldn't disrupt the crew with their playful spirit.

Father: Your mother is right. At the same time, those kids were quite disruptive to the crew. They were able to get the crew to divert from its original mission. The children also got the crew to change the ships course, defy Kirk's commands, and nearly kill Kirk and Spock.

Mother: Don't forget, children aren't capable of exploring space on their own yet, even though it looks easy for adults. The children in that episode had to take over the adults to navigate the ship through space rather than do it themselves.

Father: Yea son. Maybe when you grow up you could be an astronaut but not now as a 12 year old boy.
